Using the form of a diptych/triptych as a personal non-religious altarpiece, I reflect on personal and historical Christianization while exploring space, the space between things, objects within space, and time, both present and past. These are objects used to indicate a position, place, or route.
A Deep Breath and A Blurry Blink, 2018 Ink, Watercolor, Gouache, Colored Pencil, Graphite. Diptych, 44” x 32"
After It Rained, 2018 Ink, Watercolor, Colored Pencil, Graphite, Gouache. Triptych, 24.5” x 13” x 3”
Working 12 was created by making one painting per month for the course of a year. It is a reflection and response log meditating on broader topics such as empowerment, toxicity, solidarity, current events, and social justice, as well as personal relationships, struggles, and accomplishments, and life changes.
Working 12 uses heavy symbolism, repeated themes, and a constant 16x16 format.
